building my portfolio

I have found that one of the best ways to learn and gain experience is to offer my photography to friends and family and just plain advertise through Twitter, a link at the end of an e-mail, a post on Facebook, etc.

It's like a person who needs help but never posts that HELP WANTED ad in the paper. Sometimes you take a risk that no one will respond but other times, you find out you actually do have some interested!

So, for me, I am offering to share my joy and love of photography with YOU. I am currently building my photo portfolio and need willing subjects to photograph! If you are interested, and live in or near the Hattiesburg, MS area, contact me and let me know.

It's experience for me and ability to share my photos for when I have my own photography business and the BEST PART is that it's a free photo session for you with a disc of all the photos and printing rights for those you like! E-mail me @ jennmariephotoghraphy@gmail.com or become a fan on Facebook of jennmariephotography in the search.

more about jennmariephotography

If you look through my photos you will see several, okay, many of my photos revolving around children and childhood. I find it to be the most purest form of life because with children they just live, enjoying life! This is the very essence I want to capture when taking pictures. I also find that there is so much in life, like innocence, raw enjoyment of living, silly non-perfect moments that are lost because we now have "responsibility" as an adult. That's why most of my photos are not posed, and not perfect where there are silly grins and oblivious play. For me, it's a time to take us back to pure enjoyment of childhood.

My goal is not to be the world's best photographer, to have someone look at my photos and critique them from corner to corner...of course my desire is to grow and improve in my abilities, learn from other photographer's experiences, but overall I want you to look at my photos and find them bringing a smile to your face because you understand and feel a connection to a time in your childhood, or an element of nature, or a joyful memory from your past or maybe even something present, that you see in these pictures.

I would love for you to follow my work, sharing in my experiences and yes, giving me your feedback. I love art and all things abstract. I enjoy taking my time to appreciate something that I might not otherwise immediately love and finding out I am actually a raving fan.

There have been several people who have made profound statements that I feel are worth remembering...one such statement was made by the late and great John Wooden that says, "Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming." I think this is one that will be my motto from now on.

So, thanks for being a fan and for giving me your ears and eyes to share my work with you.
